If you are planning your first trip to Disneyland, and are unsure about how you will get to and from the park from your lodging, read on to find out tips and suggestions on transportation for your upcoming vacation.
Go During the Off Season
It's easiest to get around the amusement park in Spring or Fall, excluding Spring Break, which is staggered for most schools anyway. Besides that it's best to go on a Monday or Tuesday. The lines and crowds on these days are significantly smaller, there's less traffic coming and going from the park, and there are more hotel and lodging options available.
At some rides in the park, there are Single Rider Lines. You would need to be on your own, but if you spot a ride you think you might like and no one else in your party wants to go, go ahead and skip to the fast line. You will rarely be waiting in one of these lines for more than a half an hour.
Hotels close to the park are convenient for obvious reasons, but do not rule out staying at a hotel farther away in distance from the park. Many hotels in the vicinity offer free shuttles to and from the park or will arrange a cab or transportation van for you. It's a great service provided by many hotels in hopes of gaining more patronage, and works out great for you. You can also arrange for transportation in a vacation package deal.
Get in on a Deal
Disneyland has what is called a FASTPASS at some of its attractions. If you see one, or know ahead of time where you can get them, you would simply find the kiosk around the front of the line and swipe your park pass for the FASTPASS ticket. It's basically a ticket that holds your place in line. You get the ticket and come back within an hour and take your place in line. It's really nice.
The best deals for a vacation package to Disneyland can be gotten at your local travel agency. The packages are usually better deals than what you can patch together finding random deals on the Internet. Doing it yourself can be very time consuming and confusing. It really is helpful to employ the knowledge and experience of a travel agent, so keep that in mind.
Be sure to ask about discounts for senior citizens, military personnel, and student rates if any apply to you. If you or anyone in your party has disabilities, be sure to ask about and arrange accommodations through a company like Ebmeyer Charter and Tour for you.
